amazingly surprised by LE RENDEZ-VOUS DE PARIS in 2011?
Well ... it comes back in 2012!
Le Rendez-vous de Paris 2012, the same-sex dance competition, will take place on Saturday, May 26th in Paris at Gymnase Jean Jaurès, Paris XIX, métro Laumière (line 5)
For this international same-sex latin and standard ballroom dance competition, hosted by TIP2012 ( International Paris Tournament), les Gais Musette, member of FSGL (Gay &Lesbian French Sports Federation) and ESSDA, are proud and happy to welcome you from May 25th to May 28th in Paris. It will be the second time this competition is held in France.
Friday, May 25th is dedicated to welcome and rehearsal:
- From 3 PM: Competitors are welcomed at the “Sports Village” : Espace des Blancs-manteaux, 48 rue Vieille du Temple, 75004 Paris, métro Saint-Paul or Hôtel de Ville (line 1) (free entrance)
- From 7 PM to 11 PM : Rehearsals at Micadanses, salle Biped, 16 rue Geoffroy l'Asnier, 75004 Paris, Métro : Hôtel de Ville (line 1) or Pont-Marie (line 7) (free entrance)
Saturday, May 26th: time for RENDEZ-VOUS DE PARIS 2012, same-sex dance competition at Gymnase Jean Jaurès, 87 Rue Jean Jaurès, 75019 Paris, métro: Laumière (line 5).
- From 10:30AM : Latin women and Standard Men (competition & finals)
- From 3:30PM : Latin Men and Standard Women (competition & finals)
- From 8:30PM to 10:30PM : General Dancing
- If your feet can take it, from 10:30PM, follow us to a Parisian LGBT dance-hall :le Tango, la Boîte à frissons, 13 rue au Maire, 75003 Paris, métro : Arts-et-Métiers (line 11) (entry not included)
nota: doors will open at 9AM for competitors. The venue offers large changing rooms and showers for competitors. Moreover, a wide range of French home-made dishes and beverages will be available at the venue!

Sunday, May 27th, entertainment:
- From 3PM to 8:30PM, Les Gais Musette invites you to a ball at the Sports Village (Espace des Blancs-manteaux). A nice moment to share among dancers and other athletes! The first half hour, we will be hosting a beginner’s dance workshop. (free admission)
- From 11PM: TIP Party at la Machine du Moulin Rouge, 90 boulevard de Clichy, 75018 Paris, métro : Blanche (line 2) or Place Clichy (line 13). Tickets can be pre-booked when registering for the competition (highly advised), purchased at the Sports Village (15€) or at the venue (20€).
Monday, May 28th (bank holiday in France): one word = leisure!
- Le TIP'brunch from 10AM to 4PM at Diable des Lombards, 64 rue des Lombards, 75001 Paris, métro : Châtelet (Lines 1, 4, 7, 11 or 14) : a main course and a wide buffet (drinks and desserts) will help you to meet the other athletes from all the TIP2012 sports competitions after such an emotional week-end! (17euros).

RENDEZ-VOUS DE PARIS 2012: RULES
Couples: There are separate men and women competition. A dance couple must consist of two female partners or two male partners.
Levels of dancing: There will be four levels of dancing, from the very beginner to the very advanced :
- Level D : Beginners dancing their first competition or compete only now and again with very little practice,
- Level C : Improves who dance for fun and dancing for some time,
- Level B : Intermediate dancers who practice on a regular basis,
- Level A : Advance dancers who take their dancing seriously.
Dances for the Ballroom section:
- Levels D & C : Waltz, Tango, Quickstep
- Level B : Waltz, Tango, Slow Foxtrot, Quickstep
- Level A : Waltz, Tango, Slow Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep
Dances for the Latin section:
- Levels D & C : Cha cha cha, Rumba, Jive
- Level B : Samba, Cha cha cha, Rumba, Jive
- Level A : Samba, Cha cha cha, Rumba, Paso Doble, Jive
Jury: Seven international judges will form the jury.
RENDEZ-VOUS DE PARIS 2012: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
For those dancing with high heels, the gymnasium parquet flooring requires heel protectors. You are welcome to bring your own or purchase a pair directly at the venue (approximately 3€).
